Bilirubin is a yellowish pigment found in bile, a fluid produced by the liver. Bilirubin may also be measured with a blood test. When bilirubin does not get excreted at a proper rate, it may appear in urine where it typically is not supposed to appear. If it does appear in urine, it may make the urine appear darker in color, creating the appearance of amber urine
